Ibleo Nero.

The Sicilian Black Swine Project, which aims at the breeding of the typically Sicilian black swine also known as "suino nero dei Nebrodi", began in June 2010.

We built a fence around 5 hectares of wooded land filled with olive trees, oaks and acorns and we set free the first specimens of the rare Sicilian breed.

They can all be found on the breeds register and all have a genealogical certificate.

In the next few years, we are hoping to select some excellent specimen for meat and cold cuts.

It is our intention to keep the animals in the open at all times and to take good care of their physical well-being.

We follow the rules of biological farming and it is our aim to contribute to the preservation of this marvelous species, native to Sicily.

It took 6 months of hard work to fence the whole area and create a small paradise where these wonderful animals can find all they need in order to survive and breed naturally.

The grassy pasture, the acorns, the carobs all contribute to the health of the meat and to the well-being of the animals themselves.

Here the swines don't have to face cement, constraints, stress or abuse. Only nature, green, the possibility to roam freely and root about without limits.
